Scheduling an Appointment
There are three ways to schedule an appointment:
- By phone: Call 410-455-2542, during operating hours.
- In-person: Visit RIH located on the second floor of the Center for Well-Being, during operating hours (it is suggested to make an appointment ahead for a minimal waiting period)
- Online: Some visit types can be scheduled online using your myRetrieverCare patient portal.
If you miss your scheduled appointment without canceling at least 24 hours ahead of time, you will be charged a $25 “missed appointment” fee.
IF YOU ARE SICK, WEAR A MASK WHEN YOU ENTER THE CENTER FOR WELL-BEING
Please wear a mask when around others if you are currently experiencing any symptoms that could suggest a communicable illness. Such symptoms include: a fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, fatigue, muscle/body aches, headache, new loss of sense of taste/smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
Important Information for Appointments
Please bring photo identification (UMBC ID, driver’s license, passport, etc.)
If you have not already uploaded your insurance card to your portal, please bring your health insurance card.
Arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to verify health insurance and update any personal information. You may be asked to reschedule your appointment if you are more than 10 minutes late.
*If you are under 18 years of age, Part VI of the health form must be signed by your parent or guardian and uploaded to your patient portal.
Note Policy
Please try to schedule appointments so that they do not interfere with your class schedule. No excuse notes will be provided for students who are not seen in the clinic for an appointment.
Notification of Lab Results
Most lab results will be visible on your patient portal in 2 – 5 business days. If your lab results are “abnormal,” you will be notified by a message on your portal, or by phone. Please check your UMBC email if you are expecting results, and ensure that we have a valid phone number that will be answered by you personally.
Mental Health Medication Consultation
RIH has a psychiatric nurse practitioner on-site part-time who, depending on your insurance policy, may be able to prescribe medications as part of your mental health treatment. Alternatively, the RIH Referral Coordinators may help you get connected to services in the community.
Other
- ADD/ADHD: RIH does not test for, nor manage ADD/ADHD prescriptions. For personal assistance with referrals to community resources, please schedule an appointment with counseling staff.
