Confidentiality and Privacy

Retriever Integrated Health (RIH) staff are legally and ethically required to keep confidential the information clients share with us. As a result, both your attendance at RIH and any information you share in counseling will not be revealed to anyone (family, faculty/staff, friends, etc.) outside of RIH unless you provide written permission to do so.

The rare exceptions include:

  • When there is clear and imminent danger that someone’s life is at risk,
  • In the case of apparent or suspected abuse of a child or dependent adult, or
  • Under enforceable court order.

In any of these circumstances, your therapist will likely discuss the situation with you prior to taking appropriate action. See Notice of Privacy Practices.

Email Communications

We take the privacy of your communications with us very seriously. While we do everything in our power to maintain your privacy, it is important for you to know that we cannot guarantee confidentiality with email communications. As a result, we encourage you to contact us via your health portal, phone, or in person.
